Carmel-By-The-Sea (March 2021)

Hello everybody!!

My first real post for 2021. I cannot believe it is March already but there you go. At the beginning of March, it shocked me that I had not taken any time off since I started my now not-so-new job. And a really annoying thing about Silicon Valley is they place a cap on how much holiday time you accrue. So if you reach the cap, YOU STOP ACCRUING HOLIDAY TIME. You can tell this annoys me to no end and by the beginning of March, I had reached my cap. So, because I hate working and not accruing time off, Josh and I decided on a spur of the moment trip away to the beach in Carmel-By-The-Sea (yes, that is actually the name of the place).

Our first day in Carmel

Since this was technically our first holiday in 12 months, we decided to splash out on our digs.

Wally thoroughly approved of our accommodation:

In fact, the first thing Wally did was zoom around the back patio in the sunshine.

And then it was time for us to head out to dinner. Wally, as usual, was right there for the action.

After dinner though, we were all tired from our first big day that we decided some quiet time was in order before heading to bed.

A very pooped Wally

Our second day in Carmel

We wanted to start our second day the right way so of course we made sure to take care of business early:

We also stopped past a playground while Josh and I had our morning coffees so Wally could expend some energy:

And then we were off to Monterey. Unfortunately the aquarium at Monterey (which is quite famous) was shut so we just enjoyed walking along the water with Wally.

After our little walk and a bit of lunch, as is the case with a toddler, we had to head home to start Wally’s bedtime routine which always involves a nice relaxing bath:

Wally – less than impressed with his bath.

Our last day in Carmel

For our last day, we decided to focus on the reason we went to Carmel, the beach. But first, we stopped for breakfast.

And then we got to the beach. Josh and I were sort of nervous because the last time we took Wally to the beach he hated the feeling of the sand. But, I guess he’s matured?

And after a day in the sun, we were all ready to head home the next day.

Just a quick little post this time. The US is rolling out the vaccine like crazy over here so hopefully things start to open up a little more. If they do, we’ll hopefully be taking a few more trips this year.

Talk soon,

Sim, Josh and Wally

Glad to see that Wally has transformed into a beach baby! Hope you enjoyed your break. I keep holding out on a holiday for when the international borders reopen, not too sure if that is the best approach – but at least my leave is not capped!!!

Once again, a fabulous post. Must say Josh’s toileting habits need some work and thought the black neck band was a new fashion statement until I realised it was a mask. Wally …. you little cutie. Love to all and stay safe 😘❤️

Wally is so big now 😭😭😭💕
I was actually thinking about you guys the other day! Feels like ages since we’ve heard about your adventures! Glad you had a nice little family getaway, the beach looks fab!! xo
