Hi everyone!
It hasn’t been too long since you last heard from us but we definitely had to say hi for Thanksgiving in America. Trying to embrace our new larger family, Josh and I planned our first trip away with two children. Not being too ambitious with Oscar being only 5 weeks, we aimed for the wine country which is about 2-3 hours away. As usual, travelling with two children meant an outrageous amount of luggage:
I usually try and gather all our luggage in the one spot before taking this picture. But there was so much and it was spread all over the house, hence the many pictures. Even though we had a lot to do to prepare for our little trip, we still made time for cuddles with little Oscar:
Once we had the car packed, we picked Wally up from daycare and headed to Guerneville. The trip wasn’t as difficult as we thought it could be. Still needed one stop to let everyone stretch their legs, get fed and watered but we arrived at our accommodation in still high spirits. The place we stayed at was channeling some serious wood cabin vibes:
Of course, with a toddler it wasn’t long before we had made our mark on the place:
That’s ok though because Josh and I came with supplies to fortify us:
Wally settled down as well because we caved and let him watch as much Thomas the Tank Engine he wanted.
The next morning, we got a good look at where we were staying and it was breathtaking. The cabin was nestled within these incredibly tall trees:
And even better, the cabin was only a short walk away from the Russian River which is famous in that it runs through all the wine region of California:
A really lovely lady who came across us offered to take a family photo and we ended with the first good picture of our newly expanded family:
The river ended up being a great place to play with Wally and discover he doesn’t like sand on his hands…AT ALL. But it was still fun.
And that’s it, our trip to the wine region at Thanksgiving. Not surprisingly, there were no planned visits to any wineries this time since we had two young children. But rest assured, Josh and I made sure to duck in and out of our favourite winery so we could enjoy a drop while staying at our cabin. It was also great having a change of scenery while Josh and I have been home on parental leave. Josh goes back to work next week and I head back to work in January. But before I do, we have a trip planned to Miami. Keep an eye out for our update then because December in Florida should be hilarious.
Talk soon!
