Outback Steakhouse – August 2016

Just a quick little post. Josh and I forgot to defrost the chicken to make chicken skewers so we decided to go out for dinner.

For ages he’s been trying to get me to go to Outback Steakhouse for laughs. It’s a cheesy restaurant chain in the US which is dedicated to everything Aussie. They are supposed to have authentic Australian food (whatever that is).

We walked into this restaurant and I saw the Australian flag and you know what, I broke out in a goofy grin. It was nice to see. Also had pictures of Australia all around the place.

When you open the menu, it all has really strange Aussie-fied names.

Not sure what a Tiki Bandit is but there you go. Like a true blue Aussie, Josh ordered the good stuff.

They had an Australian shiraz on the menu so I ordered a glass. That’s what I miss about home I think, the shirazes here are so mellow compared to Australian shirazes. And usually the Aussie shirazes here are the terrible ones, not the good ones. For dinner, I had a steak which while not healthy, was actually not that bad.

That’s garlic sauce in the little pot. So not healthy for you. But really the thing that made me laugh was the Bloomin’ Onion. It looks like this if you get a whole one.

It’s an onion that’s been cut, dipped in egg yolk and flour then deep fried. You know, an authentic Aussie snack! This beast is about 2000 calories! So Josh and I just got petals instead.

Funny thing about these, they taste exactly like Hungry Jacks Onion rings so it actually was nice to get a (terrible) taste of home.

I thought you guys would get a real kick out of this place.

Talk soon,
