And here you have it, day 3 of my trip to New York. As I sit here writing about it, I cannot believe how time flew. It was only three days but I packed so much into it. On this day, Josh and I discovered that our hotel was only a two buildings down from the New York Times head office.
Today, our aim was sightseeing. First we went to the Twin Towers memorial. It was really lovely but I didn’t feel like taking pictures, spent the time reflecting on it. Just next to the memorial’s museum however is this most incredible building.
Josh thought it was called the Angel building? Certainly looked uplifting and soaring however when we peeked inside….
it was just another Westfield. From there, Josh maneuvered us towards the bull. Al, this picture is also for you.
I DID NOT rub the statue’s testicles although so many people were, you can see a guy crouched down behind me taking a picture with it! We then walked down to Battery park and Fort Amsterdam.
Fort Amsterdam is considered the birthplace of New York City. From there, I saw the Statue of Liberty.
Since we spent such a short time in New York, we didn’t have enough time to take the ferry there and see it up close. Maybe next time. We decided to head towards the Chelsea market. So we walked from there to the market.
We stopped halfway when we found this cute little bakery.
They spell whoops without a ‘h’. I had a hot chocolate and Josh had an iced latte.
Okay, this I thought was very cool. This is a carpark! They pile high. Not sure how they get them out of order.
Finally we reached the Chelsea Market!!!
The crowds were unbelievable. We had to take break at a cool little wine bar.
While Josh waited for our prosecco, I decided to go to the toilet. Look at this line!
That was an ordeal. But not to worry, I had a drink waiting for me when I got back. I enjoyed this because the people watching was glorious!
We continued walking around Chelsea market checking out the produce.
After the Chelsea market, it was only a short walk to the Highline. This is an abandoned railway line that cuts across New York which they’ve made into a garden that you can walk along for ages.
I was so tired after this. We were at 21st street and it was still another 20 blocks to home but I couldn’t do it. My feet hurt. So we uber’d back to the hotel and I had a nanna nap. Then we were up and about for our last culinary adventure. First up, Bea Bar.
Then on to Brisciola. We really gave the menu a fair whack here.
I think the Italian waiter was in love with Josh and I by the end of our meal. We wended our way back to the hotel and said fair well to New York. Until next time dear city!
Talk soon,
Sim
